The idea of owning a mountain-top retreat where guests could come to relax and enjoy their time away was a life long dream of Innkeepers, Patti, and Bear. In 2003, their dream became a reality when they found the mountain house and property that is now known as The Crooked Oak Mountain Inn.
When asked what drew them to Asheville, Patti and Bear often respond “We chose North Carolina; Asheville chose us!” Their daughter Christine and her family moved to North Carolina first while Patti and Bear were living in Colorado. “We were too far away from them and decided to uproot, move east and start a new life living out our dream of owning and operating a bed and breakfast! Now we are only three hours away from our two beautiful granddaughters instead of 2,000 miles! It has been a wonderful decision.”
